In your journal, use the following questions to write some prompts to use n praying through this week’s passage:

Is there a command to obey?

How am I compelled to exalt God?

Is there a promise to claim?

Is there a principle to follow?

Is there an example to follow?

Am I convicted to confess any sin?

Is there a sin to avoid?

How do I need to rest in Jesus/the gospel?

How can I pray for someone else?

DO (YIELD): How does God’s Word Call me to yield my life?
1. Why is good theology key in combatting suffering? Why is it necessary to be proactive in developing good theology? How are you going about that?
2. What is it about suffering that carries with it a crisis of identity? Why does this aspect or effect of suffering expose the need for faithful community?
3. Of the traps that Jerome presented (awareness, fear, envy, doubt, denial, and discouragement), which have you experienced most profoundly? How did you work through that, and how did the Lord prove faithful through it in exposing its deception?
