Think about this week’s questions for group discussion.
- What does it mean for a church to be mired in spiritual lethargy? In what ways could spiritual lethargy be hidden behind reputation and the appearance of vibrancy?
- What does this passage reveal about how a church should truly evaluate and assess itself? What are the questions that might hide spiritual lethargy and lead to self-justification? What are better questions to ask?
- Why is the understanding of confession and repentance as a continuous pattern in the lives of Christians so crucial to the health of a church?

Think about this week’s questions for group discussion.
- What does it mean for the church to be a community of repenting sinners? How does this play out in the life of the church? How does this guard against compromise and error in truth?
- How does v. 19 paint a picture for what we should be pursuing as Kingdom people? What are the keys for living towards this aim?
- Because it is almost always a fact that false teachers/ideologies do teach some true things, how can a church be on guard against being led astray by them?

Wednesday [BE>DO]:
Think about this week’s questions for group discussion.
- What are some “blind spots” we tend to have within the church when it comes to areas of compromise? How do we intentionally protect against becoming blind to these areas and falling into them?
- In our specific culture, how do we go about balancing love and grace with ‘tolerance’ and theological compromise? Why is it dangerous to fervently pursue the latter to the neglect of the former?
- Why is a merely privatized faith not an option for the genuine believer? How can this in itself lead to spiritual and theological compromise?

Wednesday [BE>DO]:
Think about this week’s questions for group discussion.
- How does Jesus’ eternality help provide comfort to those who are experiencing persecution or opposition? What about to us as we face difficulty and opposition?
- How does this passage speak to the fear that is so pervasive in our culture today? In the midst of that fear, what about the believer’s life should stand out?
- How does the unveiling of reality, as sobering and difficult as it may be to see, comfort those who are in Christ? How should we as Christians be agents of reality in a world that is darkened and broken?
