Jonathan & Bethany Edwards, along with their infant son Caleb, are missionaries in Togo, Africa with whom we are partnering with in our church's Great Commission.  The following is a update from Bethany received November 13.

“Thank you guys for praying! Right now we are taking a vacation in the southern part of Togo. You can pray that it continues to be a refreshing and relaxing time… Especially for Jonathan as he is trying to recover from malaria for the fourth time since we have been in Togo. The last few months have really been draining for him health wise and also with all the issues he has had to deal with the hospital server.”

“Please thank everyone in your group for us! It is very encouraging to know that we are being remembered and prayed for. If you would like more requests to pray for for once we get back to Mango, we would appreciate prayers for:
– wisdom for us both in balancing family and outside ministry, especially the next few months as we are anticipating a very demanding time for Jonathan with the hospital server in Mango and getting an x-ray machine set up and connected at the southern hospital.
– wisdom for me to know when to start back with nursing in the hospital, and how much time to give to that and to developing relationships with the women in our neighborhood.  (They have an infant son.)
– R, a Togolese women who does cleaning for us once a week. I have just started meeting with her on Tuesday mornings for a Bible study. She has some catholic background, but is married to a Muslim and has told me that Islam “does not please” her. We are thankful her husband L allows her to study the Bible. He is a translator at the Christian radio station run by fellow missionaries, so we are also praying that his eyes will be opened to the Word that he is reading every day.
– our weekend night guard, K, his wife, A, and their family. They live right across from us and are also Muslims. Pray for us as we continue to build relationships with them, that God would give us the words to say to them and use us as examples of His grace and love.
– our weekday guard, B. He is a catholic and we are unsure of his salvation. He is definitely very open. His wife is a believer.
— us as we continue to build our language skills, in French and now as we have begun working on a local tribal language. It is tonal, and pretty difficult at times! The Togolese really appreciate when we try to speak to them in their heart language, even if we make them laugh at our attempts sometimes 😉
